Welcome to you for philatelic trip round the world with me together.....
eng2-020-8 My philatelic story about East Timor (8)
Beside civil officer, China also dispatched a few group peacekeeping civil police. In order to preparing, the Ministry of Public Security made strict check and training for the received training personnel , they passed UN's special exam. First group 15 polices arrived East Timor on Jan.19,2000. Second group 39 polices also arrived on Sep.2000 (See below)

They far away from theirs native village is in a peace years of motherland, rush to the cloud of smoke floated over foreign country. The work is dangerous. The life is very hard, the mosquito indulge in wanton persecution ,the fatal dengue infection threatens everyone. In such conditions, a report about a woman police officer caused my attention. She just is Wang Ran of 33 years old ( See below, selected from Mar.28,2001 "Nanjing Daily". The title:" I am serving as a police in East Timor")
a woman police officer caused my attention. She just is Wang Ran of 33 years old
I am a woman, but even more is a police. There is not 'FLINCH 'in the police dictionary.....

I carefulness read the report about her, she said: " we often live in a carried tent with everyone, sleep on the ground. There is not hot water, have to eat the dry convenience noodle. I just understood that idiom 'Brave the wind and dew'..... In East Timor, we contact with family quite little, one is the telephone very busy, other one is I'm afraid my aged parents worry, they have been very tired for my children..... I am a woman, but even more is a police. There is not 'FLINCH 'in the police dictionary......I think the experience in East Timor will influence my life".

I think I should ask an autograph of such as a Chinese woman and Chinese peacekeeping police for recording a course in that the Chinese young men challenge army life in the foreign country. I sent the postcard on Apr.1,2001. I used a "Plum Blossom" ordinary stamped postcard issued on Aug.15,2000 (148x100mm). The plum blossom is a famous flower that is native to China. It has been fond of Chinese for thousands years, and it also is a city flower in Nanjing city. The moral of plum blossom is stiff upright and graceful, elegant and in good taste, defying severe cold, lofty sentiment. To use the postcard as a carrier is very suitable for recording a present-day historical fact "Women who act and talk like a man". I used 2 pieces stamps about UN. One is J108 (See eng2-020-4), Other one is 1995-22-1. And I also used 1 stamp 1993-4 "Eighth national people's congress of PRC"( Issued on Mar.15,1993, issued quantity is 194 millions, 1 piece for 1 set). The vivid national flag on the stamp shows a concern and warmth of the motherland.

This time, I am good luck. I smoothly received a reply letter with the postcard autographed by Wang Ran on May 24,2001 (See below left). The transmitting place also is Darwin 2436 post box according the envelop. It even more approve that the postal route at that time all is through Darwin of Australia (See eng2-020-7).

Chinese peacekeeping police gained a highly praise of UN and East Timor government and its people because of their strict and impartial discipline, perfect mastery of quality and outstanding work
Its back label is very important for philatelist's research work. "FROM WAMG RAN (The writer note: A slip of the pen, it must be FROM WANG RAN) CP1916 NATIONAL INVESTIGATION UNIT, CIVPOL HQ UNTAET P.O.BOX 2436 DARWIN, NT 0801 AUSTRALIA". It is confirmed again that at that time all East Timor UNTAET foreign mail are transferred by Australian Darwin this mailbox code. The red landing postmark is May 24,2001. The post time only 13 days , it is very fast in that time
A personalized postcard autographed by Ms. Ran Wang (王然)on May 10,2001 in Dili (The front left side). The postcard's despatching postmark is on April 1,2001 from Nanjing, its two black and white photos in the back are Ms. Wang with her colleagues of other countries in the UN peacekeeping force. The photos from Chinese newspaper The envelop by Ms. Wang. Its two black despatching postmark (front and back side in the envelop) is very clear (May 11,2001). This small postcard recorded one passage common but not ordinary history. Chinese peacekeeping police gained a highly praise of UN and East Timor government and its people because of their strict and impartial discipline, perfect mastery of quality and outstanding work. UN ask China increasing peacekeeping police when it is cutting down peacekeeping personnel at Apr.2000 for defending independent celebration and other mission. According statistics, by the end of April 2002, China total dispatched 5 groups 113 civil polices and officers, 8 persons among them is woman polices. Perhaps Wang Ran has finished his historic mission in East Timor now, come back the motherland and her family after being apart a long time, anew become a member of China police, continue contributing her force. The history will remember their exploit. Undergone a long arduous process, they will become a generation of real pillars of the state. Police officer Wang Ran, wish you will make still more contribution for the motherland in the new century.
