Cote D'Ivoire is located west Africa. Original name "Ivory Coast". Its area is 322 thousands square kilometers, population is 12.5 millions. Its agriculture and mineral resources are abundant. There are diamond, gold, petroleum and so on. Abound in lumber,coffee, cocoa,palm. Its GDP occupies front row of Africa, per-capita income is about 700 USD. It declares independence on Aug.7,1960 and changes its name "Cote D'Ivoire" on Jan.1,1986. There are two capitals in the country: New capital is Yamoussoukro, it is called political capital; Original capital is Abidjan, called economic capital. Abidjan is most modernizing harbour of west Africa,high buildings and large mansions are arranged in close order in down town, the grass looks like a green carpet in the gardens of streets, it is reputed as " A small Paris in the black Africa". But its suburbs is quite destitution and backward. It is a epitome of developing Africa.

The People daily published a information on Sep.7,1999, China leaders Zhu Rongji (Premier) and Hu Jintao (Vice Chairman of state) separately met with Cote D'Ivoire Premier Daniel Kablan Duncan who is for attending the 22nd universal postal congress (See below left). It is reported that his main goal of this journey is that for bid for 23rd universal postal congress that meeting will be held in 2004.
